Halifax based Southdale Ltd is to complete a remarkable turnaround with the announcement that it is set to nearly double turnover to £60 million this financial year.
Southdale, which has been operating in the social housing arena for the last 20 years, is emerging strongly from a challenging period for all construction companies following a company and Board restructure.
The success of the business, which turned over £35million in 2008/9, is also down to its expansion into new product areas, including schools, extra care facilities, healthcare, community centres and other public buildings and new regions, with an office recently opened in the Midlands.
The ambitious business is now demonstrating its new structure, growing product expertise and youthful Board with the unveiling of a new brand which aims to help generate sustained growth across all its sectors in the coming years.
Three of Southdale’s flagship schemes are also completing in the coming months as the business continues to deliver on all fronts. The Brig Royd Primary Care Centre in Ripponden completed in October, the £6 million Melrose Court extra care home in Elland which completes in early November, and the first of the St Ann’s Discus bungalows in York, part of a wider £21 million scheme, will be completed in December.
Paul Moore, managing director, said: “What Southdale has achieved in light of the market conditions is testament to the knowledge and expertise of the staff and is a demonstration that some of the difficult decisions that the Board has taken over the last 18 months were the right ones. It also shows that our way of working with our clients in an open, collaborative way, helps to reduce risk and generates confidence in our ability to deliver, which is key in this climate.
“What has emerged is a business with a young and dynamic Board, a company structure designed to deliver sustainable growth over many years and a new brand which reflects our performance record and the future ambitions of the business.”
The Southdale Board comprises of Chris Harris non-executive chairman, John O’Hara, non-executive director, Paul Moore, managing director, Declan McHugh, development director, Richard Greenwood, commercial director, Stuart Allison, construction director, Trudie McCormick, technical director, Guy Pearson, finance director and Paul Oldridge, land and sales director.
