“We’re extremely proud of this new residential care scheme for the disabled as it really demonstrates the breadth of knowledge, skills and experience we’re able to bring to a variety of projects. Its modern, practical design features are sensitively tailored to the needs of residents and supports LCD in maximising the levels of personal choice and independence available to people living with disability, by enhancing their physical, emotional and social wellbeing.”
Southdale’s rapid expansion into new product areas has reached a key milestone in the North West, thanks to the creation of its first purpose-built residential care home for disabled people in Sandbach, Cheshire.
The new £2.2 million scheme, built on behalf of the UK’s largest voluntary sector provider of services to disabled people, Leonard Cheshire Disability (LCD), is a first in the region for construction firm, Southdale.
The company has traditionally operated within the social housing arena, but is rapidly expanding into new product areas, ranging from care homes and medical centres through to schools, libraries and community centres.
The ‘Hill House’ development has transformed the previous site by replacing outdated 1960s accommodation. The new residential care home will accommodate 20 private rooms with state-of-the-art communal facilities, whilst a separate bungalow will provide a further three rooms and staff accommodation.
To enhance the innovative services available to disabled residents at Hill House, Southdale has also worked closely with LCD to incorporate modern design features into the build, including assisted bathing suites and overhead hoists.
Paul Moore, managing director for Southdale, commented: “We’re extremely proud of this new residential care scheme for the disabled as it really demonstrates the breadth of knowledge, skills and experience we’re able to bring to a variety of projects. Its modern, practical design features are sensitively tailored to the needs of residents and supports LCD in maximising the levels of personal choice and independence available to people living with disability, by enhancing their physical, emotional and social wellbeing.”
